Ground school is everything about aviation that falls outside of the cockpit.  Learning about flight planning, aircraft performance, weather, regulations, systems and more - all happens in the classroom environment.  In addition, every pilot is required to take a knowledge test prior to obtaining their license.

In-person ground school offers you the opportunity to ask questions, engage with your classmates, and learn directly from an experienced professional, all on a structured schedule.  While online programs offer great flexibility, it can be very challenging to self-motivate when managing the daily work-life balance.

No experience required!  We welcome current and aspiring pilots of all levels.

The primary textbook will be provided by your instructor as part of the course fee.  Depending on the course, your instructor may recommend an E6B, plotter, sectional charts, IFR low charts, practice test guides, Ipad, Foreflight, etc.  Please consult with the instructor before purchasing.

Yes! There will be practice exams provided throughout each course, all designed to get you to pass the knowledge test(s).

Life happens, and sometimes you will need to miss a class.  No worries!  Your instructor can provide the class materials, or meet outside of normal class hours for a makeup session.

ANC is partened with multiple flight schools in the area, and can provide multiple recommendations to fit your flight training needs.

Online courses offer great flexibility, but they lack the engagement and real-world examples that are provided in a classroom environment.  From experience, it can be challenging to maintain a rigid study schedule when balancing work-life-study.  In addition, the in-person environment allows you to connect with other aviators working towards the same goal, providing opportunity to form study groups and long-lasting aviation friendships.

Please reach out to your instructor if you are having a hard time grasping a concept, or want additional help.  ANC is committed to your success, and is willing to go above and beyond to help you understand.

Card payments will be subject to a 3% payment fee.  Zelle, Venmo, CashApp, checks, or cash are preferred.

Please consult your instructor and they will help you sign up for an exam.

It is a great practice to complete ground school before flying, but it is not a requirement.  Students that complete ground first typically see more success in their flight lessons, since they can apply their knowledge from the ground to what they're accomplishing in the aircraft.  Having the knowledge test completed early also allows flight instructors to target any weak knowledge areas during lessons.

At this time, ANC is only offering courses in Royse City, TX.  If enough demand is reached, there is great potential for classes to be operated at locations across Dallas and the surrounding areas.
